Our Year 2 Junior Librarians have been busy thinking about some of their favourite Christmas stories to share with you and have some interesting recommendations. You may like to take up some of their suggestions and encourage Father Christmas to pop in a few of the titles into some little people’s Christmas stockings on Christmas Eve!

The Junior Librarians have a good mixture of traditional and more recent literature. A great range, including two different types of books about the eternally popular Peppa Pig!

Peppa’s Christmas Post uses the format of the classic story, The Jolly Postman and is a Christmas romp. With Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig unwell and stuck in bed, Peppa and George decide to take Christmas into their own hands – with a little help from Granny and Grandpa Pig! The Christmas cards are sent, yummy treats are made and decorations are put up, but are they ready for the extra special surprise for everyone on Christmas morning? The story includes six envelopes containing a Christmas card to fill in, decorations to make, a little book of Christmas recipes and so much more.

Peppa’s Christmas Peppa, George, Mummy and Daddy Pig are getting ready for Christmas! Read along in this sturdy, cosy board storybook as they choose a Christmas tree, decorate the house and meet a surprise visitor. Perfect for little ones at Christmas time!

There’s an Elf in your Book!  This Christmas picture book by bestselling children’s author and musician Tom Fletcher, forms part of Fletcher’s interactive book series.  Do you have what it takes to make Santa’s Nice List? An elf is here to test you in Tom Fletcher’s newest participatory read-aloud. Don’t let the elf trick you into being naughty!

Mr Men and Little Miss Christmas stories Roger Hargreaves continues to delight children with an assemble of Christmas stories and dilemmas for the reader to grapple with! Mr Christmas has been invited to spend Christmas with Little Miss Late this year but what with all the snowstorms in the North Pole, delays to the Polar Express and a forgetful bus driver with no spare tyre …might Mr Christmas miss Christmas this year?

The Twelve Dogs of Christmas The big day has almost arrived and one little puppy is very excited about his first EVER Christmas . But with three drooling Dalmatians , six sausage-snaffling Scotties and every dog in town helping out, the festive season is a shambles! Will everything be ready in time for Christmas Day ?
Children will love picking their favourite dogs and spotting the puppy in busy scenes. This hilarious picture book is a great way to introduce children to Christmas traditions.

Meg’s Christmas Oh no! A flood means that Christmas is looking doomed! Enter a spell, a surprise stay in a castle and a party to plan for – will Meg, Mog and Owl make it home for a very special Christmas Day? Packed with playful illustrations from Jan Pienkowski, Meg’s Christmas is the perfect read for Christmas Eve.

Enjoy!

Season’s greetings!
