BOOK OF THE WEEK

This week, the Junior Librarian Shaurya, from Eagle class, shares with us one of his favourite reads. It is a Lego DC Comics Superhero book based on Batman.

Shaurya recommends Get That Cat!  by Quinlan B Lee.

Shaurya’s reason for his choice: “I enjoy superhero stories and love Lego, so this book is a perfect choice. I hope you agree!”

Mrs Harvey knows that this book will be a really popular choice amongst Grimsdell children as it contains two favourites – Lego and superheroes!

The impact of superhero films and literature on children’s values and development is a topic of increasing importance as superhero films continue to dominate the box office and capture the hearts of audiences worldwide. Superhero films often feature characters with extraordinary abilities who use their powers to fight against evil and protect the innocent. These stories can be very appealing to children, as they provide a sense of hope and inspiration, and can help children develop important values such as courage, honesty, and loyalty.

Superhero characters often embody positive values and morals such as courage, integrity and selflessness, and children may look up to these characters as role models and strive to emulate their behaviour. This is because superhero films and books often depict characters making sacrifices, standing up for what’s right and using their abilities to help others. This can inspire children to adopt similar values and aspire to be like their favourite heroes. Additionally, the portrayal of these values in an exciting and engaging way can make it more likely for children to internalise and adopt these values as their own.

Superhero films and books often depict characters overcoming adversity and using their powers to make a positive impact on the world. This can give children a sense of empowerment, as they can see that even characters who are not perfect or don’t have everything figured out, can still make a difference. This can inspire children to believe in their own abilities and to take actions to make a positive impact in the world around them. Additionally, seeing characters who are not necessarily “perfect” but still able to make a positive impact can help children to have a more realistic understanding of what it means to be a hero.

Many superhero books and films depict the characters saving the day and fighting for what’s right, and this can inspire children to be heroic and stand up for what they believe in. Seeing the characters taking actions to help others and make a positive difference in the world can encourage children to do the same. Additionally, the characters are often depicted facing difficult challenges, and overcoming them through determination and perseverance, which can be a source of inspiration for children to stand up for their beliefs even when the going gets tough.

Happy Reading!
