During our Topic sessions, the children began writing their own space themed story! We discussed certain questions about the characters, the setting and the need for a story to have a beginning, middle and an ending. The children learnt about creating a story mountain as one way of showing what happens in a story. Once they had an idea for their story, they made their own story mountain using pictures or writing and they used this as a framework when they starting writing.
In Maths, our focus was ‘measures’ which included estimating and measuring using different scales.
Mrs Barnett organised a puppet show for Key Stage 1 on Wednesday with a focus on Road Safety. It served as a great reminder to all of the children about being safe near roads.
On Thursday, we were delighted to go on a Year 2 trip to the Science Museum. We had a fascinating day exploring the Space Gallery and participating in a ‘Destination Space’ workshop led by the team at the museum. The children were amazed to learn more about space and to see space related items such as space suits in person. Thank you for a superb trip Year 2!
