Celebrating Success on A Level Results Day

We are delighted to share this year’s A Level results, which reflect the amazing talent and hard work of our pupils here at Mill Hill.

Half of all grades were A*/A, with the overwhelming majority at A*-B. Nearly 20% of all grades were at the highest level of A*.

University destinations are being finalised, but we expect three quarters of all leavers to progress to Russell Group institutions. As in previous years, a small number of pupils are heading to Oxbridge or Medical School, as well as leading US universities. In typical Mill Hill style, these academic routes are balanced by several pupils progressing into elite music and arts institutions (RADA and Guildhall School of Music) as well as professional sporting pathways.

A full breakdown of results by subject can be seen here. Some points to highlight;

  • 19% of all grades were A*
  • 50% were A*/A
  • 82% were A*-B
  • A number of subjects secured 60% or higher A*/A, including English, Drama, Art, Economics, Religious Studies and Computer Science
  • 25% of all grades in Maths were A* (with 54% A or above)

These excellent results follow on from our outstanding ISI Inspection in the Spring Term, and underline the recent improvements at Mill Hill School. They are a strong platform on which to build in the coming years, when we expect to take the school to even greater heights.

Some individual pupil successes are;

  • Agnes K (Murray) will study Classics at Lady Margaret Hall College, Oxford, having secured 3 A*s
  • Ishani S (School) achieved 4 A*s and will now study Medicine at St. George’s
  • James B (Winfield), Georgia M (Cedars) and Tom R (Cedars) will all study at the University of California, having all achieved straight A*As
  • Asal S (Ridgeway) will study Medicine at Imperial, having secured 3 A*s and 1 A
  • Neha J (Priestley) will read Chemical Engineering at Churchill College, Cambridge, with 4 A*s

Edgar G (Priestly, 3 A*s) – who will now study Chemistry at Imperial – said, “I’ve loved every minute of my time at Belmont and Mill Hill, and these results are the icing on the cake. The teachers here have been genuinely brilliant and have inspired me to get these grades.”

Antonia B (Murray, 4 A*s) is going on to study History at Edinburgh. She said, “Mill Hill provided me with a great balance between academic study and other things. I will be sad to leave! The History department have been the absolute best.”

Benji C (Priestley, 2 A*s and 1 A) – who is one of our outgoing Senior Monitors – told us, “The support from all of our teachers has been amazing – they are always there to help when needed. The extra-curricular activities were a great way to de-stress and therefore help with your academic work.” Benji will be studying Politics and History next year at Leeds.

We wish the warmest congratulations to all our Upper Sixth leavers on their results today. We will miss you greatly but know you are moving on to bigger and better things.
