- House Shield Update
Pupils and staff were excited to receive an update on the House Shield competition in our Christmas Rewards Assembly and learn that McClure (128pts) currently lead the standings. Last year’s winners Atkinson (123pts) are second with Macgregor (116pts), one of two boarding houses in the top five, in third place.
The league table of House Points has been updated to include the results of competitions, commendations and effort grades in Autumn 2.
McClure’s lead is a result of wins in Girls’ Hockey, House Music (a rendition of Where is the Love?), third place in Debating, and strong showings in Commendations and Effort Grades.
Miss Wong (Acting Housemistress, McClure), said ‘It’s been an incredible term from McClure. Led by our Upper Sixth pupils, the House spirit has been amazing and their hard work is paying off. I’m proud of everyone and we’re looking forward to more house competitions next term and, hopefully, a new name on the House Shield!’
All is still to play for, however, in this year’s House Shield competition. The spring will see a range of major events, including House General Knowledge, Spelling Bee, CCF Newcastle Drill competition and the fiercely contested 5 and 10 Mile Cup.
