Mill Hill pupils have this term alone set foot in three different continents in the name of enrichment, learning, cultural appreciation, and sporting endeavour.
The October half term break saw Remove Netballers and Rugby players tackling a series of challenging matches under the Arabian sun, Sixth Form Physicists investigating the CERN laboratories in Geneva, and Drama and Digital Media pupils treading the sidewalks and boulevards of Hollywood. The term was rounded off this week with Lower School Germanists sampling Lebkuchen and Kartoffelpuffer in the wintry streets of Aachen.
Sports Tour to the UAE
Remove pupils, from the U15 Rugby and Netball teams, enjoyed a rich and vibrant tour to the UAE, training under the October sun, learning about acclimatisation and recovery and playing fixtures against local teams.
Pupils also got to make the most of the trip by enjoying plenty of sightseeing and participating in activities beyond their sports, such as visiting a Waterpark and experiencing Dubai's desert.

Science Trip to CERN
Mill Hill Scientists were fortunate to receive a bespoke, personalised talk from a genuine CERN scientist, the son of Mill Hill’s own Mrs Arnold, about the work being undertaken at CERN, the home of the Large Hadron Collider. An excursion to Lausanne’s Swiss Plasma Center, the world leader in fusion research, was another genuine highlight, as pupils stepped foot in the laboratories where actual fusion occurs.
The fascinating trip offered a genuine glimpse into the exciting world of science and the vast range of careers in the subject.
Drama and Digital Media tour to Los Angeles
Mill Hill Sixth Form pupils were dazzled by the world of television, film and media in a breath-taking trip to the home of US cinema. Pupils visited Warner Brothers’ Studios, experiencing the cut and thrust of the enormous and multiple sound stages and studios.
Pupils spent time directing and making their own horror films and even watched the live filming of ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show’, watching how the on-screen magic comes together.
German Cultural Visit to Aachen
This week, Lower School German pupils have been soaking up the culture and history of Aachen, the city where the Holy Roman Emperor was traditionally crowned.
Besides a historical tour of the Altstadt and the obligatory experience of the world famous Weihnachtsmarkt, where many delicious snacks were tasted and handcrafted presents were purchased, the highlight for pupils was time spent in our partner school, the Maria Magdalena Gesamtchule, following real lessons in German.
