Supporting Bursaries At Mill Hill
A Mill Hill Bursary
Creating Opportunity
Bursaries open the door to a Mill Hill education regardless of a child’s means, it is something that we are proud of and haven’t lost sight of since our school was founded in 1807.
More than 10% of school children in Barnet come from families who earn just a fraction of the school fees to attend Mill Hill. Our aim is to double the number of bursary recipients at Mill Hill so that 10% of our pupils are in receipt of a transformational bursary.
With your help, Mill Hill will be able to power positive change within our borough and give the opportunity of a Mill Hill education to more bursary pupils in the future.
Eva's Story
I grew up in Finchley Central, near Mill Hill. My parents separated when I was young, my mother and I had to move in with my grandmother, and I attended a local primary school. Mill Hill has been perfect for me; my teachers have been incredibly supportive, guiding my personal growth. I have faced challenges like any teenager, including an ADHD diagnosis, but I have received excellent support. Being a bursary holder has transformed my life, fuelling my ambitions. I’m excited to study Psychology at Nottingham University and hope to give back one day, helping others access the opportunities I’ve had.
Volodomyr’s Story
When the war in Ukraine started, everything collapsed; my father’s business was lost and my mother’s restaurant closed. They were without jobs. My mother, siblings and I moved to the United Kingdom as part of the Government scheme that saw British families host Ukrainian families in their homes. We heard about Mill Hill School through a friend of my father, who knew someone that had sent his son to the School and suggested I apply. It’s difficult to quantify just how much knowledge and understanding I have gained since coming to Mill Hill and I know it is going to be very beneficial to me wherever I go or whatever I do in o in my life. I am really grateful to everyone who makes it possible for bursary pupils to attend Mill Hill School.
Jeremy’s Story
I vividly remember getting a call from my dad to say my bursary application had been accepted. To say I was elated is probably the most understated way I could put it. I got involved in everything I could at school and made the most of every opportunity that came my way. Throughout school, I felt incredibly safe and it gave me such continuity and security. There is no doubt in my mind that my time at Mill Hill is the one thing that has changed my life for the better. To have been afforded such an expansive foundation is incredible, and something that every child deserves.
