Boarding FAQs
Communication
How do I make contact with the school as a Parent or Guardian?
Your son/daughter’s Housemaster/mistress will be the main point of contact for you and they will introduce themselves to you in advance of your child joining the School.
How can I contact my son or daughter?
Pupils are allowed to use of their own mobile phones within particular time frames (not after lights out). Each Boarding House also has a landline that may be used.
Facilities
Is Internet available?
Secure wifi and internet connections are available across the site so that pupils can get online either for work or email requirements until 11pm. Each pupil will be issued with a school email address.
Pupil support
What will happen if my child is unwell?
Medical care is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for Boarders. The School has an onsite well-equipped Medical Centre run by a team of highly qualified Nurses. The centre is open from 8am to 6pm. If a pupil falls ill overnight, a member of medical staff is on call to provide support. If a boarder is too unwell to remain at school, they will be expected to return to the care of their parent/guardian.
Are you able to cater for specific dietary requirements?
Our chefs are proud to serve a high quality, delicious and well-balanced menu, which caters for a wide variety of dietary requirements. Specific dietary needs can be catered for in consultation with the catering team. For any further information please contact the Admissions team.
Housekeeping
Who looks after my child’s valuables?
Pupils must sign their passport over to their Housemaster/mistress on arrival. This will then be stored together with their Biometric Residence Permit (BRP – if required) or other important documents in the House safe. These items will be signed in and signed out by both the Housemaster/mistress and pupil.
How do I organise pocket money?
Parents or pupils can place deposits with the Housemaster, and money can be withdrawn at reasonable times. The school can assist pupils with opening a UK Bank Account. The School also operates a ‘chit system’ with certain shops within the local town, meaning that with parental approval, the Housemaster/mistress can write chits for pupils to buy goods on credit from these stores, to be repaid as pupil disbursements.
How is laundry organised?
Each House has a day of the week upon which laundry is collected and returned cleaned and pressed by our Laundry Team. The Houses also have individual laundry services for items such as PE kit, that may need washing outside of their allocated day.
