Welcome from Director of Theatrical Performance
At Mill Hill School, we recognise the monumental power of Drama and its benefits to the mind, body, and soul, with our programme focusing on developing pupils' confidence, leadership, and empathy. Through our productions, we seek to broaden their understanding of the world and help them forge new relationships alongside developing their theatrical skills.
With a plethora of shows and opportunities every year, we accommodate for all passions and levels of experience. Whether you're auditioning for your fiftieth show or looking to step into the spotlight for the very first time, there is a place for you on the stage of our Patrick Troughton Theatre.
Mr Alexander Gatherer
Drama at Mill Hill
Our vibrant co-curricular drama programme offers pupils the opportunity to explore their creativity, build confidence, and develop their performance skills. We stage multiple major productions every year, from Shakespeare to Sondheim, catering to all. Our whole School productions see pupils of all ages working together on a combined project, and our smaller plays provide opportunities for each year group to have a project they can take complete ownership of.
Meaningful Moments Every Year
We believe in giving every pupil their time to shine on stage. With a dedicated focus on providing all pupils with meaningful performance opportunities each year, we ensure that lead roles are rotated across productions. It's not just about a select few in the spotlight; it's about every individual finding their moment to shine.
Unleashing Creative Minds
Experience the thrill of outstanding directing and playwriting opportunities at Mill Hill School. Our stage is a canvas for imagination, with multiple pupil-written and -directed plays taking centre stage annually. We don't just teach theatre; we cultivate storytellers, directors, and creators, empowering pupils to bring their narratives to life.
Behind The Scenes
It's about the entire theatrical experience. All our plays are technically operated by pupils, under the expert guidance of our in-house theatre technician. They gain hands-on experience and technical expertise whilst taking control of the lights, sound, and the magic behind the scenes.
Beyond The Classroom
Our Drama programme seeks to take pupils beyond the confines of the school grounds. We run multiple trips to West End productions each year, and provide opportunities for pupils to perform at professional theatres to public audiences. We offer one-to-one tuition for Dance and Drama, through which pupils can achieve internationally recognised qualifications with the LAMDA and RSL exam boards.
